"What truly sets these speakers apart is that you can hear distant intonations in a thriller like Independence Day, and then gawk in amazement when the ships start flying. Even at incredibly high volumes the system sounds clean and undistorted, which is a remarkable engineering accomplishment." John Brandon, TECH Edge, December 2002
“The system’s bass continued to be the selling point: quick and punchy without sacrificing clarity and tonality” Chris Lewis, Home Theater, August 2002
“…terrific system that delivers fine detail and fully integrated surround sound … at any volume I could stand.”
“I was quickly struck by the speakers’ clarity and definition, especially through the midrange and low treble.”
“I remained impressed during multichannel DVD listening: the Klipsch suite produced sound that was very well integrated front to back on music and movie material alike.”
“…the system played effortlessly at movie-theater reference levels.”
“…there’s no doubt this is a terrific home theater system.”
“We’re talking big-time performance here in a big way.” Daniel Kumin, Sound & Vision, June 2002
"The RC-7 center speaker rendered full-bodied dialogue, yet it was fast, fluid, and stunningly articulate." Steve Guttenberg, Home Theater Magazine, November 2003 |

RC-7 Center Channel Speakers
In conjunction with the introduction of our new Reference Series flagship floorstanding loudspeaker (RF-7), we have also introduced the RC-7, a new high performance center channel that matches the flagship model in performance, technology, materials and styling. The new RC-7 center channel also features Klipsch's tapered array technology, which provides more consistent coverage across the listening field and improved dialogue intelligibility.
The RC-7 was designed to provide "best in class" home theater and multi-channel audio surround sound (with the matching RF-7 flagship loudspeakers, RSW-15 subwoofer and RS-7 rear channel speakers), but its striking metal drivers and real-wood enclosure also make it a desirable complement to any decor. Available in three beautiful furniture-grade veneers black, maple or cherry each handcrafted, real-wood finish is unique.
The RC-7 utilizes a combination of professional grade materials and advanced horn technology for a smooth response and consistent coverage pattern. The new Reference Series 1.75" titanium dome compression driver is coupled to an 8" square Tractrix® Horn and powered by an unusually large, video-shielded 22oz. magnet. This combination offers the speed and accuracy needed to deliver clear, accurate, non-fatiguing high and upper midrange frequencies at any volume level. This design approach is so efficient that it virtually eliminates the most common cause of driver failure excessive energy.
The two 8" Cerametallic™ woofer cones are lighter, stronger and better damped than commonly used cone materials. Cerametallic™ is a specially treated aluminum that has been anodized, or electro-chemically transformed into ceramic on both outer surfaces. Similar to the motor of the large compression driver, powerful, video-shielded 28oz. magnets drive these woofers, allowing for precise signal tracking without blurring the sound. Aesthetically, the unmistakable copper color of our Cerametallic™ cones gives the RC-7 its distinctive Klipsch Reference look.
The RC-7's cast-polymer woofer frames, which have high impact tolerance to stabilize the woofer motors and guarantee their critical alignment, are designed to be stronger and more functional than typical driver "baskets", and actually contribute to the overall enhanced performance. These non-magnetic woofer baskets eliminate any loss of magnetic energy needed for output and dynamic headroom. And the unique venting system cools the motor and voice coil to enhance reliability.
The RC-7 center channel features Klipsch's version of 2.5-way crossover technology, called tapered-array. With tapered-array, the two Cerametallic™ woofers work together to deliver high impact bass with one driver transitioning out at the mid-range frequencies. This provides more consistent coverage across the listening field, less tonal error and improved dialogue intelligibility.
The high quality crossover networks of the RC-7 are carefully designed for an improved blend between the lower midrange and upper bass frequencies. They use the highest quality internal wiring, as do the external bi-wire jumpers of the newly developed circular input cup on the loudspeaker's exterior. This materials upgrade ensures top-of-the-line connection from the electronics all the way through to the voice coil of each Klipsch audio system.

The large tuned ports on the RC-7 reduce turbulence allowing for better dynamics. Its larger size, outer flaring, and precise tuning increase efficiency and bass response, which allows for more output with less distortion.
Although many people will choose to show off the copper-colored Cerametallic™ cones, each RC-7 comes with a curved, cloth-covered, stand-off grille. This distinguished "floating grille" creates a physical barrier, protecting the drivers from damage and actually works to minimize sonic reflections.
